WHERE WE SERVE

  • THE OPEN DOOR

NYC area has one of the highest immigrant populations in the country. However, low-income immigrant families often face difficulty in every area of life, including employment, medical care, housing, and education. The Open Door addresses these problems by equipping individuals with skills they need to successfully integrate into our society. Volunteers teach english at one of their in person sites in the UWS or East Harlem.

  • SALVATION ARMY HARLEM TEMPLE LOCATION

The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. For this specific opportunity in Harlem, volunteers will reorganize, restock, and clean the food pantry to get it ready for service the next day.

  • THE FATHER'S HEART

The Father's Heart Hunger Prevention Program consists of a soup kitchen and food pantry, open on Saturday mornings 7:45-11:30 AM. Volunteers will prepare and serve breakfast to homeless and hungry New Yorkers in the East Village.

  • ALL ANGELS CHURCH

All Angels Church is an Episcopal church in the Upper West Side that serves the holistic needs of homeless men and women in the church and its surrounding community through Sunday evening meal programs 5:30-7 PM, and drop in service programs on Tuesday + Thursday mornings 8:30-11:30 AM. Volunteers help prepare and serve meals at either of these opportunities.

  • CITY RELIEF

City Relief exists to compassionately serve people experiencing homelessness by offering hope and resources that lead toward life transformation. There are a variety of opportunities across Manhattan each week.

  • GRAFFITI COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

Graffiti has been serving the Alphabet City community since 1970 by being "A Church That Serves" through meals, clothing, tutoring, and other services offered on an ongoing basis.

  • THE BOWERY MISSION'S WOMEN CENTER

The Bowery Mission Women’s Center provides a caring and safe place for women in crisis to achieve personal goals for life and work, heal from past trauma, and overcome barriers to independent living.

  • NEXT STEP COMMUNITY CHURCH

Next Step Community Church, formerly Recovery House of Worship, creates environments to help hurting people heal, from providing holistic care to those experiencing or recovering from addiction to meeting the practical needs of individuals and families in Downtown Brooklyn. Current programming includes serving at their community food pantry or breakfast, visitation ministry, supporting new parents and more.

JUSTICE & MERCY WITH REUNION

As a community we are not interested in solely existing for ourselves. Because of this, we have established a variety of opportunities across the city for you to sign up and serve with below.

We also have a justice and mercy team that meets quarterly to determine ways of loving our neighbors for lasting impact. We are committed to meeting both tangible needs and educating ourselves toward the long term work of justice. If you are interested in joining this team, you can email us here.
